Studio Policies 2024-2025
Parent expectations:
Parental support is essential to the child’s progress. Your enthusiasm and interest is invaluable as is your encouragement for daily practice and good practice habits. Parents of young students should also expect to participate actively during each lesson and supervise the daily practice at home.
Student expectations:
Students must practice at least 6 days a week, for the same number of minutes as their lesson time.
Students are responsible for bringing all materials to the lesson.
Fingernails must be clipped
Tuition:
Please understand that tuition covers far more than the time spent with the student during the lesson. Tuition also covers performance classes which may be scheduled throughout the year, the teacher’s administrative time, studio expenses, curriculum development, periodic progress updates for parents via email/phone, scheduling, printing costs, student incentives, among other items and activities.
School Year: 34 Week Term (September 3, 2024-May 30, 2025)
The tuition includes 33 private lessons, 2 Group Classes, 2 Performance Classes and one Parent/Teacher Conference. During one week in May, in lieu of lessons, the teacher will host parent/teacher conferences, create End-of-the Year Progress Reports, prepare new lesson plans for the coming year, research new books/materials for students, among other duties.
Payment options: Accepted forms of payment are: cash, check or Zelle. (Zelle ID: jlipianostudio@gmail.com)
Plan A. Fixed Monthly Rate— Invoices will be sent in advance of the lessons taken. (Example—September invoice will be sent August 21 and is due no later than August 31.)
Plan B. Biannual Rate (includes 3% discount)—First payment is due no later than August 31. Second payment is due no later than January 20, 2025.
Summer Session: June 17-August 30, 2024—11-week term
In order to reserve your lesson day/time in the Fall, a minimum of 5 lessons is required during the 11-week term. Additional lessons will be charged per lesson.
Minimum payment due the week of May 26, 2025.
Late Fee: There will be a $10.00 late fee for tuition not paid by the 10th of the month.
Missed Lessons:
Please note that the agreed lesson time has been reserved exclusively for you and the tuition fee reserves the teacher’s time.
If you must cancel a lesson, please do so through your My Music Staff account. If you cancel at least 6 hours in advance of your lesson, you will receive a make-up credit. It is your responsibility to periodically check the My Music Staff Calendar and use your make-up credit to register for an opening which works with your schedule. Make up credits will expire at the end of the current term.
Another option to canceling a lesson is to consider an online lesson (via Zoom, Facetime, Skype, etc.) This is especially ideal during inclement weather, parent unavailability or mild illness.
Any lesson missed by the teacher will be made up or credited to the student’s account.
Terminating Lessons:
One month notice is required before terminating lessons. This provides the necessary time for the teacher to fill the vacant lesson time.
Recitals:
Recitals will be held 2 times a year. See the My Music Staff Calendar for specific dates.
Additional Performance Opportunities:
Highly motivated students will be recommended to participate in festivals, competitions, adjudications and exams. Produced by local and national music organizations, these forums offer students oral/written feedback on their performances, allow them to learn from other students of similar level, and ensure that students meet nationally set standards every year.
Thank you for abiding by these policies to help your child’s piano lessons be the most productive and efficient! Thank you also for the privilege of allowing me to teach you. I look forward to a great year!
